Spier Farm was established in 1692, in the western shadow of the Hottentots Holland Mountain Range. Today, its fertile grounds and gabled farmhouses are flourishing, as a growing awareness fuels innovation and breathes new life into old practices.
Here, wine, food, art and landscape combine to offer a visitor experience like no other. This two-hour tour and tasting is a chance to explore the farm, aboard your own off-road Segway, before sampling Spier's Signature wine tasting (five - six wines.) The session begins on the farm's Segway training and obstacle course, where you'll get to grips with these futuristic personal vehicles. Next, you’ll follow your guide onto the farm and learn all about Spier's ingenious bio-dynamic farming methods, including the unique water recycling and re-energising plant. You'll pass the chicken houses and the vineyards, and admire stunning views of the farm's mountainous backdrop. Finally, back at the tasting lounge, you’ll try five - six wines drawn from the winery’s Signature, Block and 21 Gables ranges – the perfect end to a very special experience.
